There are soo many deep conditioners out there that claim to provide you with strong, moisturized, & luscious locks. Don’t get me wrong there are some great ones out there, but sadly Giovanni‘s Smooth As Silk™ Deeper Moisture Conditioner is not one of them.

Let start at the beginning…

Smooth As Silk™ Deeper Moisture Conditioner can be purchased online directly from Giovanni for $7.95, but you can get it cheaper from Vitacost or Lucky Vitamin for example. It is also available in stores at Whole Foods, or other health/natural stores.

The ingredients are great, many of them being natural and organic. This conditioner contains:

Aqua (purified water), *aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice, *helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, *glycine soja (soybean) seed extract, *betula alba (birch) extract, *malva sylvestris (mallow) extract, *achillea millefolium extract, *chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract, *equisetum arvense extract, *lavandula angustifolia (lavender) extract, *rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, *salvia sciarea (clary) extract, *thymus vulgaris (thyme) extract, *tussilago farfara (coltsfoot) flower extract, *urtica dioca (nettle) extract, citrus grandis (grapefruit) extract, cetyl alcohol, tocopherol (vitamin E), panthenol (pro-vitamin B5), citric acid, phenoxyethanol, natural fragrance.

Giovanni’s Deeper Moisture Conditioner claims to:

• Infuse deep moisture for manageable smoothness
• Detangle while protecting against split ends
• Calm unruly hair to alleviate frizz
• Increase shine while smoothing dry or damaged hair

My Thoughts?

• Texture: Thick & creamy
• Color: Cloudy white
• Smell: Very light & clean scent with notes of citrus and floral. It is not heavily saturated with artificial fragrance or too overpowering

After shampooing with Giovanni’s 50:50 Balanced Hydrating-Clarifying Shampoo, I followed up with this Deeper Moisture Conditioner. The conditioner dispensed easily out of the pump and applied easily to soaking wet hair. There was a great amount of slip and I found that I could easily run a comb through my hair without the resistance of too many tangles. After , I simply rinsed my hair thoroughly.

My issue with the conditioner is that it doesn’t seem to have a major impact on my hair. It’s great to use as a detangler, however I don’t see long lasting results and/or changes to my hair. No change in the shine, no extra bounce, no extra moisture for my dry hair.

Pros:

• Available to purchase online and in-store
• Available in a liter or 8.5oz size
• Great detangler

Cons:

• Doesn’t change any shine
• No changes in hair moisture

Conclusion:

It’s a solid detangler, but doesn’t produce much more than that. I really like other Giovanni products though, so I will continue to buy the brand.

Repurchase: Maybe…but ONLY as a last resort if I didn’t see another conditioner that interested me.
